Fine Jewelry - Yours Today, Your Grandchildren's Children’s One Day
Fine jewelry is something I once never understood to be important.
I thought it was silly, maybe a little unnecessary.
I probably would have gone as far to say something terrible like, “A waste of money.”
Let’s take a trip down memory lane.
Like way, way down memory lane.
The Egyptians were one of the most pivotal jewelry-owners ever to walk this earth.
I said it.
If you think of incredible fine gold jewelry, try to tell me you’re not picturing the gorgeous Egyptians with overwhelming necklaces and head pieces. These ancient people groups valued their jewelry so greatly, that they would be buried with their incredible pieces. They believed the pieces would be carried with them into their afterlife.
Moving on, the Medieval time period was a great success for the jewelry industry. These were some the first people who began cutting their stones, not just polishing them.
Jumping forward to present day, people today use jewelry as a way to signify love, commit,
and such says, “I care for you.”
Jewelry not only has a huge enocomic impact, but it also has a large social impact.
When a woman gets engaged, what is one of the first questions she will be asked?
“LET ME SEE THE RING!”
Engagement rings are responsible for at least one Pinterest board for every woman that exists today.
Look it up. It’s just a fact.
Fine jewelry is something that is so valued and has been so valued because of all the things that come alongside jewelry.
Love
Engagement
Gifts
Heirlooms
Sentiment
If you care for the earth, then you know that jewelry is one of the only products out there that is ALWAYS sustainable.
What is fine jewelry made of?
Gold, platinum, precious stones; all of materials are natural materials the earth gifts us. There is not a piece of plastic in that ring your grandmother passed down for multiple generations.
Consumerism in America has grown exponentially in the recent years.
“The number of clothes the average consumer purchases has increased 60 percent between 2000 and 2014, and the clothes are kept about only half as long,” said Richard Vasquez Jr in “Overconsumption in the fashion industry.”
With so much insane growth in the consumption of fashion, there has to be an industry that is helping balance out all of that over-consumption.
Fine jewelry is not something most impulsively purchase over and over again, and then donate when they’ve grown tired of it. A jewelry collection with precious metals and stones is one that is honored in fireproof safes in ones home.
Friends and family pass their jewelry down to the next - their daughter, son, grandson.
We long to create pieces that are meant to be passed on for the next hundred years and more.
For your grandchildren’s, children’s, children.
