How We Stay Inspired
There are endless ways to keep yourself inspired, to help yourself stay motivated when you’re feeling a little extra run down. These are my tips that I use every few months when I find the inspiration leaving me.
These are the things that I do then that keep me inspired + motivated.
I do things differently.
This is a big one for me. Instead of enforcing constant perfection on myself, if I’m having a hard time coming up with ideas, I just let my work reflect that. For example, when I’m having a hard time coming up with email campaigns, instead of just not sending out emails that week, I just make them simple.
Nothing fancy, I just send my newest product with a code, or my newest blog with a link. This allows me to rest mentally more sometimes than others, but also keeps me accountable to continue my work even when I’m in a creative slump.
2. I let my clients and friends inspire me.
You guys bring the most incredible ideas to me for jewelry near daily. I let your ideas be the driving force of so much of what I do. Your custom rings often reflect your own personal style, and when I am in a creative slump, I am happy to let your ideas be the driving force to the piece we create together.
3. I take a break.
Transparently, there’s seasons with Wearing Hope where I don’t need to be putting in 40+ hours weekly to keep it all afloat. I have weeks where I’m able to only work 30 hours and complete everything. Although, there are months when my work is genuinely never-ending. (Like right now) During these times, I have to let myself take a break or else I will burn myself out. (Then the ideas really won’t come to me.)
When I have events on the weekends, I give myself a week day off before the event.
I also take breaks during the day. This seems like a no-brainer, but when I have slower weeks I can get away with just working 10am-4pm straight through. I don’t really need a break for 6 hours of work a day. But lately, my work has truly been 8am-5pm M-F + weekends. It becomes apparent very quickly that I need the lunch break to help myself feel like a human throughout the week. Especially when the busy times last 6-8 weeks, which is usually how it goes.
These feel obvious, but developing daily rhythms for how I complete my work each day has been huge for my business and my consistency with running it well. Let me know what you do to keep yourself in the hustle while not burning out. Cheers!
