What's In, What's Out?

Trends.

We love them and sometimes we hate them.

They keep us interested and keep the economy going all in the name of the next best thing.

But let’s talk jewelry, fine jewelry, costume jewelry, the ins and the outs.

I love to see the trends in what people are coming to us for more and less and less. None of these ins or outs of trends this year mean you shouldn’t wear what you like. You 1000% must honor your own personal style before honoring a trend.

But let’s take a look at what might be on the rise, and even more interestingly, what might be on its downfall.

What is IN this fall?

2 CARAT DIAMOND, OVAL SOLITARE, 18K YELLOW GOLD

In the fine jewelry world, the 2 carat oval diamond on a thin band is still hanging on. This trend has stuck around for a few years and is one of those trends that is luckily, pretty timeless. We love a solitare here, and a solitare engagement ring will always be timeless. You can change up your wedding bands and extra little stackers around any solitare engagement ring to keep it on-trend for truly decades.

COLORED STONES

For the last few years, we’ve seen an increase in the amount of colored stones used in fine jewelry. Remember when emerald cut emeralds were the coolest, coolest engagement ring you could get (and maybe it still is)? That is what we are talking about !! Whether engagement ring, or an every day staple, we’re seeing a huge rise in the colored stones in fine jewelry. Adding color makes everything more fun, and seems the general public has decided so too.

BEZEL SETTINGS

Guys! You wouldn’t believe how much I love to see bezels being adored. Bezels are FUN. They are fairly timeless, and they give durability to any ring that i think most people are after these days. No more diamonds falling out of your ring. No more wiggly prongs needing to be retipped. Bezels stick and they last.

CUSTOM CUSTOM CUSTOM

The more you the better. There has been a huge incrase in the ladies wanting something that really feels like them. Whether that equals a Tiffany set round diamond, or a 3 carat ruby, people like what they like nowadays. And I love to see people standing confident in their style choices when it comes to their jewelry. Whats more rock n roll than deciding to make your own engagement ring a fashion statement?

What’s OUT?

HALOS

I think we all remember the halo being EVERYWHERE about 5 years ago. We are sadly seeing that trend move away, and we are seeing a large uptick in women seeking after shank diamonds.

MINIMALIST JEWELRY

*Cries in 2018*

You know whats leaving us slowly but surely? The minimalist jewelry. Remember the thinnest stacker bands you’ve ever seen in stores everywhere? Slowly but surely the thin stackers are being replaced with chunky stones and 5mm bands. While I personally will always love minimalist jewelry, it is good to see more durable pieces on the rise. These are the pieces that will stand the test of time and you can wear for decades.

We love that things change, it keeps everything fun for me when I’m making jewelry and hopefully fun for you as you shop.

Cheers to the new, the good, the old, and all the things to come.
