Concept to Creation︱Mike + Anne
My husband, Josiah got to meet Mike and Anne through work. It was our very first year living in California together, and being full-time self-employed together for the first time in a new place had its challenges. While it was honestly going better than we could have expected, we also were very thankful for every order given to Wearing Hope.
When Mike reached out to me about wanting to upgrade his wife’s engagement ring, I couldn’t have been more excited.
There’s something so special about upgrading a ring to a couple who has been together for over a decade. There is real meaning to an upgrade; something that screams, “Let’s keep this good thing rolling!” It might be one of my favorite pieces to make for people; there is always an added level of excitement in husbands as they’re about to surprise their wife with something extra special that will become another family heirloom.
He knew he wanted a solitare setting with a round diamond. We chatted a bit about the color of gold she might prefer, but then I remembered something.
When people reach out to me, I usually will take a quick look at their socials so I can get a brief grasp of their style; and I remember noticing something about Anne; she had gold colored jewelry on.
Once we knew the metal to use, we were quick to get this piece completed for Mike and his wife.
We decided on a 1.55carat D VVS1 diamond, and I set off to get Mike’s concept CAD’d.
With the CAD perfected, it was time to cast and set the diamond. I finished the ring up, and sent it over to Mike for his final approval!
I love this ring — it is simple. It is timeless. The 6 prong basket setting adds a level of uniqueness to the ring. It is high-profile, and can be worn with all wedding bands. If I could make this ring 10 more times, I truly would. There isn’t a thing I don’t absolutely love about this perfect solitaire.
Thank you again Mike & Anne for letting me craft this piece for you last Spring. I will always remember it with fondness.
And thank you to those couples to come, who I will get to craft something for. I am already dreaming of the day.
Warmly,
Natalie
