Concept to Creation︱Mike + Dakota

OH MY! What could I not say about this couple?

I first met Mike in college, where we shared the same job as event staff for our college campus. Mike has always been someone everyone on our staff loved, so when he introduced Dakota to us via FaceTime, we knew it would be the exact same way with her. I’ve yet to have the chance to meet her in person, but everything about her screams “Mike’s better half,” and I couldn’t be more excited for them both.

Their story is so special because they actually went to college together, never meeting, and met in their home state after graduating. A true meet-cute if you ask me.

When Mike reached out about an engagement ring for Dakota, I nearly dropped my phone in excitement. Not only is getting engaged a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but the ring he initially described had me shook (in the best kind of way).

Mike’s ideas for Dakota included things like Oval Center Diamond, Clusters around the center stone, White Gold or Platinum, and Engraving down the shank.

I LOVE a unique vision, and this one was just as beautiful as it was unique. We sourced a diamond, perfectly 2 carats and of lovely quality. We finalized the design with a tulip basket setting, and one of the prettiest side clusters I have ever had the chance to see.

From here, we sourced the remaining side diamonds, set Dakota’s stones, and fell in love! The side diamonds almost remind me of a butterfly when you like at it from a specific angle and that feels extra sweet.

Thank you Mike and Dakota so much for letting me be the tiniest part of your engagement story. I am so thrilled for you both and know you two will have 100 of the happiest years together.

To Dakota and Mike !! ♡
